I’m the newest member to Changing Minds Kent and my role is Business Support Administrator. This means I act as a point of contact for individuals or companies already working with us, keeping them informed about training opportunities and our community work and projects. I also work to create new contacts to spread the word about our services and the work we do to keep growing the Changing Minds community, and to get more people talking about mental health.
Why mental health & wellbeing matters to me:
Personally, I’ve experienced mental health issues throughout my adult life as various stages and as a result my knowledge has grown over the years to improve my own wellbeing. I’ve been using many strategies such as counselling, mindfulness and meditation since my teens and recommend them to anyone and everyone! Mental health and wellbeing are as important as physical health and I hope that in our society as we talk more about mental health that more and more people will become more open, more informed and ultimately more accepting.
Interests:
When I’m not working or parenting, I always have a project on the go! I’m a thinker, a researcher, a planner and a crafter. In the evenings you will mostly find me out in my Art Studio/Summerhouse either painting a landscape, a seascape or even the odd abstract piece. I’ve recently developed a new technique of creating plaster casts of plants and flowers, my way of preserving nature forever.
Dreams & Aspirations: The dream for me is to spend my time painting and creating, and to go on regular wellbeing retreats, either local or further afield. I would love the opportunity to revisit Africa to safari and possibly do some voluntary work there later in life. By far my biggest aspiration in life is to raise strong, secure and emotionally resilient humans.
