Being a director is a very important job, it means looking after the business’s (and its community) best interests and making the correct decisions to lead the business to success. My Main task is to look after the money, making sure we have enough money to pay for wages and services and ensuring our accounts and reporting is completed. I also work very closely with the other board members on a daily basis to discuss issues and the path moving forward. It’s a very exciting time and we hope to make real positive changes to our local community.
Why mental health & wellbeing matters to me:
Mental health is so important, it is at the core of what makes us human. When you have a mental health problem it can seriously affect your physical health and can affect every aspect of your life. It's important to know yourself, know your abilities and understand what affects you in a negative way. Trying to implement change for personal development is hard, we get stuck in our routines and bad habits so sometimes we need a little help from family, friends and organisations like Changing Minds.
Interests:
After being in the office all day working with numbers I like to get outside in the garden with my rabbits, and the wildlife. I have a large family so often have family gatherings on a Sunday. I used to play roller derby but since Changing Minds got off the ground I’ve not had extra time to commit to it. I travel a lot, I have family in Switzerland and California so often visit them once a year when I can. Just recently went to Japan which was fantastic! At the moment I’ve taken on a part time evening electrical course, if I’m not in the garden I’ll be found knocking walls down or doing household diy.
Dreams & Aspirations: I would like Changing Minds Kent to be one of the best local community organisations with a great reputation for helping others. Personal goals just consist of being happy and enjoying the things in life that make us laugh and being surrounded by kind people.
