Name: Steve Migan
Role: SIC Project Coordinator

What does that mean?

My role involves the day to day running of our social inclusion centre, “The Lodge” which is based in Westgate-On-Sea. It’s a highly adaptable role that entails offering coaching and guidance to club members, preparing light lunches and refreshments, organising and attending activities and fundraising for Changing Minds Kent whilst maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for both current members and external organisations using the Lodge for private hire and functions.

Why mental health & wellbeing matters to me:

I have been working within the health and social care industry for almost 10 years now and have had the pleasure of working with a wide range of client groups with specific additional needs. In addition to this I have a lot of personal experience dealing with mental health and addiction issues amongst my family and friends.
I feel very privileged to work within an organisation that allows me to support and encourage people through their own personal journeys. I’ve seen people at their very lowest and had the pleasure of helping them to strive and overcome their circumstances at the time to improve their lives. The best part of working within the mental health sector is empowering others to be the best versions of themselves, despite their diagnosis.

Interests:

When I’m not at the Lodge, you can usually find me with a control pad in hand, playing video games! I’m a collector of retro games and have shelves of titles ranging from the Original Nintendo Entertainment system through to modern releases on the PS4 and Switch
I also love cats and have a solid goal of becoming a crazy cat man. When I’m not cooking at the lodge then I’m usually out in the garden feeding the neighbours moggies! I’m also blessed with a small group of humans that I’m rather fond of and will take time out of gaming and feeding the local wildlife to go out on random adventures with whenever I can!

Dreams & Aspirations:

The Big dream is to own a Retro games store one day! I’d also like to visit Japan (And spend way too much money on video games).
Things to do before 40 include a road trip of route 66 in the USA, shaking hands with a kangaroo and the ultimate goal to meet the cast of Birds of a feather.
